My two teaser sentences are once again from CHASING WINDMILLS by Catherine Ryan Hyde. I finished the book this morning, but I think it still qualifies as my current read. Here they are:
The closer I got to her, the clearer I could see her face, and the more I saw her face, the more I saw something pleading. Something scared.
