BTT: Best Books I've Never Read

We’ve all seen the lists, we’ve all thought, “I should really read that someday,” but for all of us, there are still books on “The List” that we haven’t actually gotten around to reading. Even though we know they’re fabulous. Even though we know that we’ll like them. Or that we’ll learn from them. Or just that they’re supposed to be worthy. We just … haven’t gotten around to them yet.

What’s the best book that YOU haven’t read yet?

Well first of all, those kinds of lists always irritate me. Reason being that most of the time, I've never read any of the books on the list! Does that mean I'm reading the 'wrong' books? I don't think there are any 'wrong' books to read. OK, I'm done with that - now I'll move on to the ones I haven't read. The first one that came to mind was JANE EYRE, but I'm reading that now, so that doesn't count. Here are a few others that come to mind:

  • Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - I plan to read it this year, I swear!
  • The Blind Assasin by Margaret Atwood - I've heard so much about this book
  • Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
  • Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides - I started this and only got a third of the way through and never got back to it!
I'm sure there are many others, but these are the ones that I thought of first. What 'best' book haven't you read?

  1. I haven't read any of the ones on your list, but 3 of the 4 are in my TBR pile. Someday I will get to them too!

  2. I have Blind Assassin and Middlesex in my TBR. Both were recommended by people whom I trust. I don't really know why I haven't just sat down with them yet.

  3. You've got a great list! I have Blind Assassin on my list and I have decided to go for it this year!

I've got so many but when I reflect upon the type of writing style that appeals me the most, I narrow it down to a short list.

At first I couldn't make of the question because it really depends on what best is. I'm reading a very popular book that I'm probably the last person on earth to read it. Gone with the Wind. :)

  5. Pride and Prejudice and Anna Karenina are two of my all-time favorites! I put Middlesex aside about 150 pages in...keep meaning to get back to it, but...

  10. I've read Anna Karenina 3 times and plan to read it again someday (maybe when the review pile gets more manageable). Guess it will be quite a while! AK is my absolute all time favorite book. Just love that Russian lit

  11. I loved Middlesex, but I know many people who didn't. And I'm stalled after the first section of Anna Karenina.
