Teaser Tuesday: 1.27.9

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly event hosted by MizzB at Should Be Reading.

  • Each week TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:
  • Grab your current read
  • Let the book fall open to a random page
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!

This week my teasers are from BOUND SOUTH by Susan Rebecca White:

"Louise, today my daughter was caught at my alma mater performing fellatio on one of her teachers. I think I deserve a drink. Frankly, I think I deserve to drink as much as I goddamn please." ~page 121

  1. Wow! I think I need another cup of coffee.

That cover is really cool, too. I was just at a writer's conference and one panel discussion covered the ways in which publishers are using the "decapitated head" covers more often to leave the image of the face to the readers' imagination.

  2. I laughed out loud at that one!!

Karen: you should check out the comments at Pop Culture Junkie (Alea's blog) today -- headless people is the topic.

  3. lol-man that cracked me up this morning!

  4. LOL! I felt like being a bit sassy this morning! This book has great wit along with some drama - a nice mix of each. I'm really enjoying it!

Karen - you're right about the cover. I think its a great technique too.

  5. I usually adhere to the 2 sentences only rule - but those 3 together are pure comedy genius!

  6. Oh my goodness--I would be drinking right along with her after that! Nice teaser.

  7. Hello...every mother's nightmare. LOL

  8. If the rest of the book reads like that, sign me up!

  9. Oh my! Whew! I think *I* need a glass of wine after that. ;)

  10. LOL - What a great teaser. :)

    Here's my Teaser! ~ Wendi

  11. OMG! The narrator can drink the whole bottle! Can you imagine that phone call!?!

Interesting about the headless cover girl ... I've noticed a lot of "back of head" covers and figure it's for the same reason.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment! I look forward to hearing from you again soon!
